Caesarean
and VBAC Group
A
Sussex
Caesarean and VBAC Support Group is a new group set up to give support, help and
information to anyone who has concerns connected to a caesarean birth.
The number of women giving birth by caesarean section in the UK has increased
steadily in recent years. Currently the rates of caesarean births in Sussex
Hospitals is one in four - well above the World Health Organisation
recommendation of 10%.
Whether a caesarean birth is planned or an emergency, many women. have
difficulty coming to terms with their experience, particularly if it has been
traumatic. We can help you find support and help if you need it.
We also have information on having a vaginal delivery after a caesarean and can
put you in contact with women who have had a Vaginal Birth after Caesarean (VBAC)
including homebirths (HBAC), home water births (HWBAC) and Vaginal Birth after
two (or more) caesarean (V2BAC).
If you a planning a caesarean birth we have resources and suggestions to help
you write a birth plan.
For women who are expecting a breech baby, we have information about your
choices and can put you in touch with other women who have chosen caesarean
birth or vaginal births, including VBAC breech birth.
We meet on a monthly basis and have a library of useful books you are welcome to
look at. The meetings are informal and there will be space for you to ask any
questions you have.
Our meetings are held on the first Tuesday of the month, from 8-10pm. Please
call 0870 421 4845 for more details – you will be very welcome!
