Membership
and Donating
We are the UK’s largest
charity for people going through the life-changing experience of becoming a
parent. We provide evidence-based information, support and a fantastic network
of local branches run by volunteer mums and dads.
As an expectant or new parent
you have a huge number of decisions to make, which can be very daunting. We will
help you access up to date, factual information and practical ideas through
NewGen, our exclusive membership magazine, and regular e-newsletters.
The Brighton and
Hove branch relies upon a few dedicated members to support and produce the
newsletter, organise events and generally help keep it running. We would welcome
anyone who would like to become involved to help as a one-off, once in a while
when you can, or on a regular basis. However, you can become a member
without getting involved in local activities.
So join today to make new friends in your
area, enjoy great family activities, gain access to relevant information and
share your experiences of being a parent.

Regular giving
Spread the amount you give and help us
plan for the future. Please contact our Fundraising
Team to set up a regular donation to the
NCT.
Payroll giving
Donating through your salary is another
effective way to support the NCT. It’s simple and
tax-free. Your contributions are deducted directly from your pay before tax. It
means that for each £1 you give it will only cost you 78p. If you’re a higher
rate taxpayer it will only cost you 60p.
Please contact the Fundraising Team at
fundraising@nct.org.uk
to arrange Payroll Giving.
Legacies
nct services are invaluable to so
many women and their partners. The opportunity to meet other parents and have
access to a wide range of information can be a lifeline. A legacy in your will
to the nct could extend that lifeline to even more parents and parents-to-be
in the future.
Making a will helps you to ensure
that your wishes are followed after your death, and that your estate goes to
the people and causes that you want to benefit.
Types of legacy
The following are the most common
types of legacy that people make to charities:
- Residuary legacy, where a
proportion of the estate after all other bequests and debts have been paid
are donated to the charity.
- Pecuniary legacy, where a gift
for a set sum is made to the charity
We recommend that you get advice
from a solicitor before deciding on how to remember the nct in your will.
Please remember that it is important to get the wording right in your will to
ensure that your wishes are met.
Please contact the Fundraising
Team on 0870 066 8940
if you want to find out more about legacy giving.
"I
did NCT antenatal classes on the recommendation of a friend, mainly because I
really wanted to meet other mums at the same stage as me. We meet up once a week
outside classes and are all still in touch now. It really helps to have people
to go to other groups with, such as baby massage and swimming.
"I became a member of the NCT in order to help to fund its work and keep up
to date with local activities. The branch newsletter is really useful for
details on local groups and activities that I otherwise wouldn’t know existed.
Most days there’s something to do – when Amelia wasn’t well and I needed
to be at home, I realised how difficult it would be without people to go out and
do things with. I really appreciate the support." Inoka, Harrow
branch
"I was worried that I would be lonely on maternity leave - just me, the
baby and no other adults to talk to. Instead, thanks to the NCT, I've made lots
of friends through sharing pregnancy, birth and now baby experiences. It's also
great that my son Kylan gets to meet other babies regularly and develop his
social skills. I always recommend the NCT to friends expecting a baby – it
really is a fantastic support and social network." Emma, Harrow
branch.
