Nearly New Sale – Sellers Instructions

SORRY THIS SALE HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO LACK OF VOLUNTEERS

.... - Saturday 27th February at Portslade Town Hall , Victoria Road, Portslade

2:00 * – 4:00 pm

(*doors open 2:00 for NCT members, 2:30 for general public).

Portslade Town Hall is a 5 min walk from Portslade train station where the number 2, 6 and 49 buses all stop. The 1 and 1A also stop close by. Our sales get very busy so for safety reasons we recommend you do not bring small children or buggies.

How the sale works

The sale is a fundraiser for your local NCT branch, enabling you to sell your good quality clothes, toys and equipment.  You will be provided with labels to price up your goods beforehand, bring them to the sale on the day and 70% of what is sold goes to you with 30% going to the NCT.  A £3 registration fee will be deducted from your proceeds cheque to cover administration costs. You must collect any unsold goods after the sale.

Before the sale

To register as a seller you must complete and sign the registration/ envelope,  this will be used for sending your cheque to you after the sale.  We must receive this by Friday 19th June. You will receive 100 labels with instructions shortly after that.

If we do not receive the disclaimer back you will not be able to sell your goods with us on this occasion.

Sorting goods

All goods for the sale must be labelled with one of the labels provided to you and securely attached. Goods must be pre-sorted into separate bags that are labelled as follows. Any items that are not sorted out beforehand will not be put out for sale due to time constraints:

Girls 0 – 3 months     3-6m   6-12m 1–2 yrs   2-3 yrs        3-4 yrs   4-6yrs

Boys 0 – 3 months    3-6m   6-12m 1-2 yrs   2-3 yrs         3-4 yrs   4-6yrs

Maternity clothes

Toys - Books - Puzzles - Equipment - Jellies - Wellies - Slippers - Real Nappies

A full list of what we do and don’t sell is included in this pack.

Quality

Before the sale we will quality check every item, and if we think it is too old/dirty/not safe, we reserve the right to withdraw it from the sale. The labels will be marked with a “W” and items will be kept to one side until the seller returns. Please remember that this is a nearly new sale and NOT a jumble sale. Only provide items you would buy yourself. Please provide instructions for goods if you have them, and ensure goods are complete, in working order and clean.

The day of the sale

On the day bring your pre-sorted goods, check in at the front desk and leave everything else to us. You may drop your items off at the hall between 12.30pm and 1pm only, on the day of the sale. Under no circumstances will we accept goods any later, as we have a short amount of time to prepare for the sale opening at 2.00pm. Please do not leave the boxes in which you brought your goods, as we do not have space to store them during the sale.

You need to leave a large bag/bin liner with your name clearly on it so that we can sort out unsold items for you to collect at the end of the sale.

If you are selling a buggy, please ensure that it is checked-in and accepted by a volunteer otherwise we will not be able to sell it.

Volunteering

We are always looking for volunteers to help out at the sale. If you would like to volunteer on the day then please let Anna know by email: brightonnct@hotmail.co.uk   We need people from 12.30pm – 5:30pm on Saturday.

As a thank you to volunteers we have a pre-sale before the doors are open to the public.

End of Sale

Please collect your unsold goods on the day at 5:00pm .  We need to vacate the hall by 5:30 so it’s important you are prompt to collect unsold goods.  Please ensure you have left a large bag/binliner with your name on it so that volunteers can sort out your unsold items ready for collection. If a seller fails to collect their unsold goods (more than 5 items) the NCT will deduct a commission of 50% rather than 30% for that seller. We do not have the resources to dispose of any unsold goods, particularly large items.

Payment

Following the sale, the NCT treasurer and volunteers add up all the labels with your surname on and send you a cheque for your total using your SAE within three weeks. The NCT takes 30% commission from all sales and deducts the £2.50 registration fee. A 50% commission will be taken in the case that a seller has left more than 5 unsold items after the sale.

Any queries before or after the sale please contact Claire, preferably by email at: brightonnct@hotmail.co.uk  If you need to telephone please do so between 9.30am and 8pm on weekdays only 07799334594.  Please send your completed disclaimer form to: 12 Tivoli Road, Brighton, BN1 5BH.

Thank you for your interest in selling with the NCT. The money raised is vital in continuing to support our trainee antenatal teachers and breastfeeding counsellors.

Rules for the sale of Buggies/Prams

“The Wheeled Child Conveyances Act of 1999 requires that conveyances must conform to British Standard 7409 or an equivalent European standard and must be permanently marked BS 7409:1996 together with the name or trademark of the manufacturer or importer.

A permanent notice on the vehicle must state: Children should be harnessed in at all times and should never be left unattended. The child should be clear of moving parts while making adjustments. This vehicle requires regular maintenance by the user. Overloading, incorrect folding and the use of non-approved accessories may damage or break this vehicle. Read the instructions.

Instructions in English must be supplied with each vehicle. These are to be headed: IMPORTANT, KEEP FOR FUTURE REFERENCE and must include instructions relating to operation, assembly, use and maintenance. “

It may be possible to purchase or download copies of the instructions from the manufacturer.

NOTE: If your pram/pushchair is a combi system that includes a car seat you may sell it privately to the purchaser of the pushchair by attaching contact details but the NCT cannot organise or profit from the sale.

Someone will be assigned to check-in all pushchairs and prams and we will not sell any that do not meet the criteria.   Please ensure you have had your pram checked in by an NCT volunteer before leaving it.

We hope you understand our need to be strict about this: we cannot break the law.
